Animal Control

The animal control officer's responsibilities are the enforcement of the city's animal control ordinances, maintenance and care of the shelter, patrolling the city and responding to calls from citizens to pick up stray animals, identify their owners and ensure compliance with the city ordinances.

The city currently maintains it's own animal shelter. This shelter meets state mandated requirements for cleanliness and treatment of animals. The shelter is located at 815 Lake Maurer Road, Excelsior Springs, MO.

When a family is ready to take on the responsibility of pet ownership, we request they check with the animal shelter for one of the many pets that pass through our facility. They make wonderful pets, and are much less costly than purchasing one from a breeder or pet store.
